September 8, 2025On Sunday, September 7, 2025, Abbot Jonathan Licari attended Evening Prayer at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Sacred Heart, newark, the evening before the ordination of a new auxiliary bishop for the archdiocese. Bishop-Elect Pedro Bismarck Chau was born in Nicaragua, and served as youth minister at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Linden, when it was staffed by the monks of St. Mary's Abbey. Bishop-Elect Chau was ordained priest in 2008, and has held many pastoral postions within the archdiocese. Most recently he served as the rector of the cathedral-basilica.
Abbot Jonathan will also concelebrate the ordination Mass, Monday, September 8, 2025, feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
