We, the monks of St. Mary’s Abbey, are a community of Benedictines, who pray, work, and live together, as part of the ancient monastic tradition. The first monks arrived in the US in the 1840s, to minister to German Catholics, and in 1857 were invited to NJ. We have lived on the Delbarton estate since 1925. You’re invited to visit us in person, join us in prayer, and experience the beauty of our campus, which includes a school for boys. You will find us to be hospitable. We hope you will find our website useful in your spiritual journey.
You will read here about our life of prayer, our various ministries, our guest accommodations and retreat center, and the procedures if you are discerning God’s call to join our community.
Pax,
Fr. Edward Seton Fittin, O.S.B. Prior Administrator
