Abbey Prior-Administrator, Fr. Edward Seton Fittin O.S.B., attended the annual workshop for abbots and administrators at Abadia del Tepeyac, Cuantitlán Izcalli, Mexico on February 2-6, 2026. The keynote speaker was David Shellenberger, of the St. John Vianney Center, Downingtown, Pa., who focused on mental health issues in monastic communities. Abbot Primate Jeremias Schroeder, O.S.B. also was present and a offered remarks about the Collegio Sant’Anselmo and the Benedictine Confederation.

Fr. William Skudlarek, O.S.B. (Collegeville) also spoke on the Monastic Interreligious Dialogue.  The visit also offered opportunities to experience the culture and history of Mexico, including the Pyramids of Teotihuacán, the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Pueblo Mágico of Tepotzotlán, and the National Museum of the Viceroyalty. 

The abbots and administrators joined the Tepeyac monks each day for the Divine Office and Mass, both in Spanish!  On Thursday, Abbot Felipe de Jesús’ nameday, Mass was celebrated by the Abbot Primate.  Special thanks to Abbot Felipe de Jesús Hernandez for the gracious hospitality and to Fr.
